Seneca’s Drew Schulte – Team Spotlight – Presented by Visit Wichita

Prep Sports recently interviewed Coach Drew Schulte of the Seneca Girls Basketball team to discuss what he sees for the team this season. Of this Schulte said “We all have our personal goals, and our team goals. Ultimately we want to compete for a conference and district championship. To do that we’re going to have to keep our focus on playing our best basketball by the end of the year. Basketball season is a marathon, not a sprint”.

“So far this year, they have done an excellent job of staying positive and pulling for each other. I believe with that type of attitude and mentality, this team has a great chance of success” said Schulte.

“In practice, they are very coachable, work hard, and they are competing” expressed Schulte. Telling Prep Sports that this is one of his favorite parts of coaching the team. He also stated that the work they put in “makes it fun working with such a great group of girls”.

“We had several moments from last season that were very memorable. I think what sticks out overall is the summer trip we take every year to Branson. We play about 7 games in 2 days, and we take the team out to eat and go get ice cream. It’s a great experience and the girls get plenty of bonding time” said Schulte.

Off the court, Schulte shared that many of his players are involved in things like NHS, Student Council, and FBLA. In addition to their obligations to those organizations the Lady Indians also “help with our k-6th PIP basketball camp. It gives them a chance to teach to our future players, and make a positive impact on them. They do a very good job at helping out”.
