Chloe Arwood and the Seneca High School cheer squad have won an impressive four straight state championships. While the Indians are extremely proud of this accomplishment, Arwood knows that there are things about her performances that are of much more importance, “Competing at regionals and state championships is not just about the thrill of victory, but also about seeing our hard work pay off and strengthening the bonds within our team.”
Arwood recognizes that her responsibilities go far beyond just competition or even entertainment, “As a varsity cheerleader representing Seneca High School, my role goes beyond merely cheering at games. Whether it’s a pep rally, a football game, or a community event, my goal is to represent Seneca High School with enthusiasm and pride! My responsibilities include coordinating with my teammates to create our performances, supporting our athletes by boosting their morale, and fostering a sense of school spirit among students and the community.”
Arwood stresses that cheer can be both demanding and rewarding. There is very little “off-season,” and the stresses are both physical and mental. Chloe and her teammates have had to learn to balance a very full and taxing schedule with family, school, and social life. But for Arwood, the payoff makes it all worthwhile, “As a senior, this year will be filled with special moments and bittersweet experiences. I am looking forward to soaking up each minute of my final year, knowing that this marks the end of my high school journey. I will cherish every game, every pep rally, and every practice.”
This summer, Arwood was named an All-American cheerleader at NCA camp. Chloe has additionally earned an All-State title for jumps during her sophomore year. “I couldn’t do this without the unwavering support of my teammates, my amazing coach and role model, Nita Hanes, and my family.”
Even more so than the accolades, Arwood understands that her passion has led to some lasting memories, “This year is about leaving a lasting legacy and making every moment count, both on and off the field. I know high school will not last forever, so having the opportunity to live out my journey doing something I love with the people I love will not be taken for granted.”
After graduation, Chloe plans to attend cosmetology school and, after completing the program, she wants to go to college to pursue a degree in business.
