Seneca band member Aryan Neece-Mchaffie gave an interview to Prep Sports.
PREP SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?
Some of my personal goals this year include; Staying on top of my work, not taking life so seriously, and most importantly, learning how to slow down.
PREP SPORTS: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
In the final stages of summer break, I auditioned for a musical and actually got a pretty big part. I met a ton of super awesome people that I still talk to every day.
PREP SPORTS: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
A teacher who will always have a special place in my heart is Mrs. Charles. She’s one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met and her love for history is contagious. She’s the kind of person who can embrace you, scold you, and make you laugh all in the same hour. She’s an academic miracle worker.
PREP SPORTS: What is your favorite athletic memory?
At the very beginning of our marching band show this year, I tossed my rifle super high in the air and caught it. Every show it was caught the audience roared. Along with the music, it set the mood for the rest of the show.
PREP SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
My all-time favorite teammate is Olivia Clark. She graduated my sophomore year and taught me so much in the short amount of time we were together. She taught me how to help others more efficiently and hold my head up high even when things are falling apart.
PREP SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part about being in our band program is the atmosphere we create. No matter who you are, we will accept you with open arms and there’s enough of us where you will find your perfect friend group. None of us are blatantly mean to each other and we keep the bickering to a minimum. We really are a family.
PREP SPORTS: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would absolutely go to Bali! Firstly, I’m determined to go somewhere out of our country that’s a complete culture swap, so Bali’s perfect. I would probably take my closest friends; Olivia Clark, Abby Moore, and Lizzy Arwood.
PREP SPORTS: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would drive as fast as possible to Fayetteville, Arkansas, and go straight to their outdoor mall. My favorite store in the world is Dillards, so I’d probably have a blast in there.
PREP SPORTS: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I’ve sung at public events numerous times and those are always chaotic, yet exciting. I don’t do as much for our community as I do for our school. I’ve cleaned, decorated, organized, etc. You name it, I’ve probably done it.
PREP SPORTS: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I’m the president of our Educators Rising chapter which is filled with future educators. I plan on attending OSU and getting my Music Education degree, so a teacher club is definitely my thing. Obviously, I’m an active member in our band program, specifically the colorguard, and I’m the president of our school’s choir program. I adore performing, so colorguard and choir are my favorite things to do, forever and always.
PREP SPORTS: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
I take a few college classes through our dual-credit program, however, the only academic club I’m a part of is Student Council.
