Seneca’s Maddie Collinsworth – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by John Cotten Roofing

Seneca girls basketball player Maddie Collinsworth recently discussed her team with Prep Sports. Saying “My favorite part of being on this team is the bonds we share and the positive atmosphere we have worked to build. I know that my coaches and teammates always have my back and I will always have theirs”.

After having sustained a concussion Collinsworth is “having fun” returning to her athletic endeavors stating “Getting to not only play golf, but softball and basketball again has been amazing”. This year she has set her sights on being “the best teammate I can be and execute my role for the team in any way I can. I would love to win a district championship, but overall just improve each practice and game”.

Collinsworth told Prep Sports that former teammate Samarah Mittag influenced her a great deal. Explaining “my teammate last year who sadly decided not to continue playing basketball this year, left the biggest impression on me. Sam played basketball with everything she had and it was obvious. She was a selfless player and always knew what was going on. When I had a question she always tried her hardest to help me and I appreciate her”.

Representing the Lady Indians both on and off the court Collinsworth helps out with “the Early Childhood part of my church (Racine Christian Church) on Sundays” and is “vice president of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) at my school. I’m involved with FBLA because it creates valuable learning opportunities and has a great group of people. I’m also a part of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) to further pursue my relationship with God”. In addition to all of this she plans on “being inducted to the National Honor Society this coming year”.
