VYPE caught up with Seneca Wrestler Nolan Napier to learn more about who he is.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My main person goal for this year is to podium at state. That will be big for me leading into my senior year.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I had all year was probably at the Newton Kansas tournament we go to, because we buzzed my head in the locker room after having a bad tournament. It was like a reset and a great memory.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher has got to be Coach Roark in high school math. We have a lot of fun in there and I really understand the math when he’s teaching.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory is easily the bus ride home from a tournament in Texas my freshman year. The whole five hours we didn’t sleep a wink, we just jacked around and had a great time.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
I think the teammate that had left the greatest impact on me and I’m sure many others, is Brady Roark. He is the definition of hard work and wrestling with his is really eye opening to see how good someone could get with his level of determination. He always stays positive and is a good role model for anyone who is searching for greatness.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being on the team is that we know how to work hard and have fun. All of the wrestlers will laugh and joke with the coaches, having a good time, but we know when it’s time to buckle down and work, and a switch is flipped and it’s a whole different team.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would love to go to the northwestern part of the country. I’ve heard it’s beautiful and quiet in some places up there. I would just take my family. There’s no other people on the planet I would like to be with for a trip.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would for sure buy my parents something nice. After all they’ve done for me in my life there is no way I could repay them, but I’m sure they would be appreciative of that.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I have never participated in community service in my town, but I would like to. Even if it was as simple as getting a group together and cleaning the park, we should do it.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I am apart of the wrestling club and I love it because it teaches hard work and how to deal with adversity.
VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
I am not involved in any of these yet, but I would like to join the National Honor Society, as it sounds pretty cool to be apart of. Student council has never really been my thing, I like to sit back and see how the students at our school decide to lead.
