VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My goals for the rest of this year are to mature as a wrestler and really get to that next level. I’d like to experiment more with freestyle this summer because that’s what women wrestle at the collegiate level, and it can be more fun than folkstyle.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
It’s hard to say that specifically wrestling is fun because honestly, parts of it just aren’t. But the parts that are fun is when your hard work pays off and you accomplish the goals you set for yourself.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
I really love Mr. Cole because he thinks very deeply about everything, and conversations with him are really insightful. In the classroom, listening to his outlook on things really makes me think.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory has to be my state finals match this year for wrestling, everything about it felt so magical. Waiting in line to stand on the podium and every time my coaches looked at me I dissolved into tears, hugging my mom, just feeling this huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. Even when I tripped on the edge of the mat and fell on my face.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
That’s a tricky one, because I feel like multiple people have made impressions on me in many different ways. Brady Roark is such a hard worker and gets after it every day in that practice room, he has this unstoppable grind that he never turns off. But there are several others as well, like the boys who were actually willing to work out with me. I would be literally nowhere without them.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
I really love being on this team because of how traditional it is. I feel like Seneca is very prideful over the things we have accomplished through the years in all of our sports and activities, and the grit it takes to accomplish them. It’s very special to me that I get to be a part of the beginning of Seneca’s girls wrestling program, because I want to do things that make our school and future generations proud.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I would probably go to the beach for a few days, I love the beach. More than likely, it would be a solo trip.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I would more than likely spend the whole 24 hours thinking about all of the things that I could buy, and end up not buying anything with how indecisive I am.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I’m currently involved with wrestling, track, and band. I do what makes me happy and try to be the best that I possibly can in each of them.
