Seneca’s Cort Hardy – Coaches Spotlight – Presented by Peoples Bank

Coach Hardy might be new to Seneca, but he is no stranger to the game. Having previously held a coaching position at Webb City and having accompanied their team to “three district championships,” two of which were back-to-back. Although this coach is more than just a basketball champion, he has also been a champion for the Lafayette House in Joplin, MO.

Lafayette House was founded in 1978 and now functions as a safe haven for many. They aim to offer “compassionate and empowering services to heal the effects of domestic violence, sexual assault, and substance use disorders.” It was for this cause that Hardy gave his time. Hardy is excited to be working with “a great group of kids” that “work extremely hard” and “are fun to be around.” Similar in heart and style, Hardy hopes he and his new team “can create some really great” memories together that they will be able to look back on for “years to come.”

Inspired by the team’s drive to win, Hardy told VYPE that if we gave him $500 right now, he would use it to buy them “some new basketballs.” An action we are sure would be supported by the school’s Athletic Director. Coincidentally, that is precisely who Hardy names as his “favorite” coworker, saying Coach Adkins is “a great guy to work with and really understands what us coaches need.”

Having experienced a great summer with the team, Hardy says they “plan to carry that momentum over into the regular season.” As he and the team set their sights on the “conference and district championship.”
