We caught up with Seneca High School band member Chas Lankford to learn more about what it’s like to play in the band, who his inspirations are and what the future holds for talented Seneca Indian.
VYPE: What do you love most about being part of the band and your bandmates?
Lankford: I love how the Band is such a close group of people. It’s great to have a built-in friend group going into high school. What’s also a really nice perk is having the common interest in music with the band. This year we’ve seen ourselves really come together and be supportive of each other to reach our goals as groups and individuals. We had a wonderful marching season, so getting to continue our success into All-District has been an amazing experience.
VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?
Lankford: I’ve really enjoyed my A.P. Government class this year. The teacher for that class is Mrs. Charles and she’s one of my favorites.
VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life? Explain
Lankford: My parents have definitely been a huge influence on me. Without them, I would not have achieved the level of success I have today. I am extremely blessed to have them in my life.
VYPE: What instrument do you play and when did you start playing?
Lankford: I play the Trombone and Tuba. I began playing the Trombone in the sixth grade and this year, I’m playing the Tuba and the Trombone.
VYPE: What other instrument would you like to learn to play?
Lankford: I would like to learn guitar someday.
