The Seneca High School track and field program has developed into one of the most reliable spring sports pillars on campus, reflecting the town’s workmanlike personality in the way its athletes train and compete. The Indians take pride in turning every practice at their home facility into an opportunity to sharpen skills, build depth, and prepare for the championship phase of the season. Meets on their home track become community events, with athletes across all grade levels contributing to the team’s identity.
Seneca’s boys squad is built around speed, balance, and versatility. In recent seasons, sprinters have helped set the tone in the 100 and 200 meters, as well as the sprint relays, where smooth handoffs and chemistry are just as important as raw quickness. That front-line speed is supported by hurdlers, jumpers, and throwers who give the team scoring presence in nearly every event on the program. The goal is never to lean on one or two standouts, but to place athletes across the board so that Seneca is always in the mix when team scores are tallied.
The girls’ team follows a similar blueprint. Middle-distance runners and relay groups provide a steady backbone, capable of doubling in events to cover whatever a particular meet demands. Younger athletes are brought along with intention, often starting in one or two events before gradually expanding their roles as they gain confidence and experience. Many of Seneca’s track athletes also compete in other sports, carrying over competitiveness, weight-room strength, and big-game composure when they step onto the track.
Throughout the spring, Seneca’s schedule offers a blend of local invitationals and championship meets that test both depth and resilience. Athletes learn to handle everything from early-season rust-busters in cool weather to high-pressure postseason races with medals and trophies on the line. Taken together, the program’s culture, multi-sport athletes, and balanced event coverage position the Seneca track and field teams as a dependable source of pride for the school and community each year.
