Seneca’s Drew Sherwood – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by John Cotten Roofing

Teamwork and tradition run deep at Seneca High School, and junior Drew Sherwood wouldn’t have it any other way. “What I love most about being a student-athlete is the team and community support that is felt for athletics and school,” he said. That sense of connection drives him both on the field and in the classroom.

While Drew shines on the baseball diamond, he also has a favorite spot in the school building. “Anatomy and physiology is my favorite class and my favorite teacher is Coach Yust,” he said. It’s that balance between academics and athletics that helps him thrive.

Now in 11th grade, Drew has taken on a key role for the Indians. “I’m in eleventh grade. In baseball I play in the outfield and also pitch,” he shared. Whether he’s tracking down fly balls or delivering pitches, Drew brings intensity and purpose every inning.

Much of that competitive fire was shaped by a former teammate. “Lincoln Renfro has made a massive impact in my understanding of high school sports,” Drew said. “He showed me how to become a leader and bring energy every day.”

At the plate, Drew keeps things simple and sharp. “When I’m at the plate I repeat WIN in my head,” he said. And his favorite pitch to hit? “My favorite pitch to hit is a fastball,” he added. When it comes to making an impact, Drew knows how to deliver. “I would rather knock a double.”

Of course, every player has their pregame and postgame rituals. “My favorite pregame snack is some gas station candy, and my post game meal is my mom’s cooking,” Drew said.

When he’s not on the field, he enjoys recharging with the people who matter most. “I enjoy spending time with my friends and family with my spare time.”

And as for what’s next? “After I graduate, I plan on going to college and keep playing baseball,” Drew said. With his work ethic and love for the game, there’s no doubt the future looks bright.
