Seneca Indians – Boys Basketball – Presented by Lazy Daisy

Seneca High School’s boys’ varsity basketball team heads into the 2025–26 season with a young but intriguing roster, guided by head coach Skip Brock as he continues to reshape the program’s foundation in Class 4. After recent postseason success and roster turnover, this year’s Indians are defined by potential, competition for roles, and a schedule designed to accelerate their growth. “We have a young and inexperienced team with only one senior on the roster. Stone Oilar is our only senior and we have three juniors, Rush Crane, Hayden Moser, and Jordan Sims, vying for varsity minutes and will be looked toward to provide leadership,” Brock said. Around them, a wave of juniors— Hayden Moser, and Jordan Sims—and sophomores like Lynden Steadman, and Jaxon Yoakam are all battling for varsity minutes, giving practices a competitive edge and raising the team’s long-term ceiling. “Our roster includes three sophomores; Blake McKinney, Lynden Steadman, and Jaxon Yoakam, who are expected to have an opportunity on the varsity level as well,” Brock said. “The rest of the roster consists of 12 promising freshmen who are also competing for playing time on the varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen level. Many of this group will be given a chance to receive varsity minutes. And we anticipate the entire group getting valuable experience for the future.”

Brock compares the challenge of this season to putting together a puzzle without knowing exactly which pieces will fit where or when. To help the young group develop, Seneca’s schedule features four tournaments, including stops at McDonald County’s Mustang Classic, the Southwest Holiday Tournament, the Crane Invitational, and the Lancer Classic in Kansas, with the first game not coming until December 10 to allow for more practice time. The emphasis is on teaching habits—how to cut, screen, and read the floor—so that this year’s learning curve can translate into a stronger future for Indians basketball. “We play a challenging schedule that will give us an opportunity to get better throughout the season and daily in practice.”

For Brock, this season is simply put: “Our definition of success in our program is simply working every day to become the best players and team we can become. We expect our guys to compete with great effort, play together, and be great teammates. We anticipate great growth throughout the season as a team. This group of players will be fun to watch. They are competitors and ready to compete on every possession.”

Representing Seneca with respect and sportsmanship is always the ultimate goal. “We want to represent Seneca Basketball, Seneca High School and the community with class and character. This group has a bright future if they will commit to striving to get better every day. Our ultimate objective is to become champions, on and off the court.”
