Seneca’s Kahli Fields – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by John Cotten Roofing

For Seneca High School senior Kahli Fields, softball has been more than just a sport—it has been a way of life. From countless weekends spent at tournaments to late nights perfecting her skills in the batting cages, the game has shaped her into the athlete she is today. “Ever since I was young, my life has revolved around softball,” Fields said. “The endless nights I spent at the cages or at the field working to improve my game is what got me to the point I am at now.”

Her journey in softball was inspired by a moment of realization as a young girl. Watching college athletes play, Fields saw a future version of herself. “I remember being around 10 years old watching college girls play, and I was thinking to myself, ‘I want to be just like them someday,’” she said. That dream has fueled her hard work and dedication throughout the years.

This past season, Fields cherished the chemistry and bond she shared with her Seneca teammates. “Out of all the years I have played with Seneca softball, this season has been one of my favorites by far,” she said. “Our team’s chemistry is what got us some of those wins we earned this past season.” The team’s ability to communicate and resolve any issues quickly was key to their success. “We weren’t the kind of team that had drama every day. The second we started noticing something off, we all talked about it and cleared it up,” she added.

As an outfielder and leader on the team, Fields took pride in her role both on and off the field. “My role on the team was to be encouraging and supportive,” she said. “As an outfielder, my role was to get the ball in quick and cover as much ground as possible.”

Now, as she prepares for the next chapter, Fields will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Barton Community College in Kansas. “I will finally meet my goals of playing college softball, and I couldn’t be more grateful,” she said.
