Senior Seneca cheerleader Sydnee Staley spoke with Prep Sports to discuss who she is.
PREP SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals are to grow in cheerleading and do the best I can for my team and give them my all.
PREP SPORTS: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I have had with my team so far, is honestly probably anytime we are together. We always laugh, joke, smile. Any moment with my team is a good one!
PREP SPORTS: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
Mr. Plake, while I’ve been in school he has taught me a lot about not only school but also about life and continues to even though I haven’t been in his class since freshman year. He truly has taught me a lot.
PREP SPORTS: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory is any state bus ride from the past 3 years! They are always the best!
PREP SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Jasmine King. She was a senior during my freshman year. She did a lot for me without even realizing it. She showed me the kind of cheerleader and leader I should be. And pushed all of us freshmen that year. She was an amazing senior to have your first year.
PREP SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part about this team is we push each other, sometimes people don’t understand the mental and physical strength it takes, and that’s okay. But having those girls on the mat with you every single day, pushing for the same thing, and understanding what you feel is the best. Cheering with Seneca is truly like nothing I’ve ever been apart of, and this team will always hold a special place in my heart.
PREP SPORTS: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
If I had to pick a place honestly anywhere with a beach. I love beaches, and I would take anyone willing to come and stay for quite awhile!
PREP SPORTS: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
I’d give it right back to Nita, and let her give it to our program. We get expensive sometimes!
