Seneca cheer coach Nita Hanes in a recent interview with Prep Sports spoke about what her goals are for the team this year. Saying “my goal this season is to push the girls to their full potential. I have worked with many of them throughout the years, and they are incredibly impressive. With that being said, we talk constantly about not being complacent. To be better, we must do better. The girls share that belief. They want to improve and progress their skills and as a coach, it makes me happy that we share the same goals”.
Hanes who is also a teacher for the Seneca School District told Prep Sports that she has “been coaching for over 20 years but this is my first year back home in my hometown. I have been blessed to come home and coach where I started and that is so fulfilling. I have worked very hard to embrace it all this year; the great times, the good times, and the rougher times. Each moment makes us closer as a team and makes me a better coach for the girls”.
“My favorite part is just each individual on this team. Each and every girl on this team could make me cry right now because I am so incredibly proud of them. It takes each of them to make our team great and we could not be where we are today without each of them” said Hanes.
Away from the cheer team Hanes focuses on time with her husband and kids. Who when they vacation “tend to go to Florida or Mexico, but if I was able to pick anywhere, I would probably pick The Maldives and stay in a hut over the water for a week or two”. Saying it would be the “trip of a lifetime”.
