Seneca Track coach Gary Pendergraft sat down with VYPE to discuss the team’s growth this season. Noting that he enjoys seeing their comradery on the buses and at meets saying they really “show up” for each other. A personal peak Pendergraft mentioned was being able to coach his son on this year’s team sharing that “it makes a father proud” to watch his freshman son’s willingness to work.
As a member of the boys track team young Pendergraft was among those said to have made the largest improvements this season. More than quadrupling their total points from the previous season the boys’ team also finished 3rd at a home meet placing higher than any previous team in the past decade.
This is the second year since the completion of the school’s new sports complex. A project which was enabled through the reception of a grant allowing for the construction of the 16-acre facility. A project that amassed a staggering 3 million dollars and now houses Seneca High Schools Track among other additions.
