This team is striving for excellence on and off the court. According to Coach Schulte, some of the main goals for the team are to “instill hard work and accountability in each student-athlete.” Schulte says, “we want to maximize their full potential in the classroom and on the basketball court.”
Although this team won last year’s district championship, they and still learning that “they will have to maintain their focus and keep up the intensity every time they hit the hardwood.” Luckily, these ladies are more than willing to put in the work as they prove each practice. Thus, continuing to forge their undeniable “chemistry.”
Coach stresses that “each player has a vital role to play” in order for them to be successful this year. With “selfless and versatile” players, they are well on their way to making that happen. Schulte told VYPE that “there are times in practice where I do have to tell them to shoot the ball when they are open instead of making that one extra pass. They would rather someone else score than them.”
Their selflessness can also be seen off the court, as many players are involved in the school’s academic excellence activities, such as the National Honors Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Student Council, to name a few.
We’re told, “most of those girls have been playing together now for 2 and 3 years” and are “anxious” to create more memories together. Their coach hopes they can “make another run this year at a district title” and ultimately end their season playing their “best basketball.”
